Today, I am writing to address a few myths I heard over the years. The post is in honor of this Christian blog, which is devoted to spreading the truth on behalf of God.
There is no God
Have you wondered how the world was created? Have you ever wondered how all these humans were created? God spoke the world into existence. He created it – he is a very detailed spiritual being. God created the animals of the seas and the lands across the earth. He created a man in his likeness first and named him Adam. Adam named all the animals. Then, God created the woman by putting the man to sleep. He took a rib out of Adam’s chest and created a woman. Adam called her woman and named her Eve. This was the first marriage in the world and history.
God created mankind and put them originally in the Garden of Eden. This is where the first sin took place. After this, a lot of bad things happen on the earth. You may ask if there is a God why bad things happen. We are living in a world where evil can happen to anyone due to sin. However, those of us who believe in God have hope that something better can happen in the future. We have hope in eternal life – to live with God in heaven.
Why do you think you are still alive? Do you know you have a purpose in this world? You were created for God’s purpose. He knew you before you were even conceived. God wants the best for his creation.
There is No Hell
Heaven is where God and his angels are. Hell is where Satan and his angels are. Satan and his angels were the ones who were kicked out of Heaven for not following the rules. This is linked to why sin entered the world. Satan (as a serpent) spoke to Eve and convinced her to eat the Tree of Life. When that happened, we all humans were predestined to go to Hell – the eternal death (or the Second Death) – after we die. Hell is a place of the forever fire. Anyone who goes there will be tortured for all eternity.
Why would you believe there is no Hell?
Jesus isn’t the Son of God
In the history of the Israelites, God gave a few prophets a message of saving his people through the son of a virgin. The prophets gave great details of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, and resurrection as well. Around the time Jesus was born, a few Jews had said that the king of Jews was about to be born. Herod ordered babies between the ages of newborn to two years old to be killed. He was threatened by the prospect of someone else taking over the throne. The prophecy was misunderstood by many except those close to Him. Mary had gotten pregnant by the Holy Spirit and she was betrothed to Joseph. God explained the situation to him and Joseph married Mary.
At 30 years old, Jesus was baptized by his earthly cousin, John the Baptist. John knew that Jesus was the one who would cover the sins of those who repented of those sins. Jesus went into the wilderness and fasted for forty days. He started his ministry. Jesus not only taught the people, but he healed people as well. He chose the twelve disciples. For three years, he rebuked the Pharisees and Sadducees on different occasions for how they were living their lives when he was confronted by them. The Pharisees plotted to kill him.
Meanwhile, Jesus was preparing the disciples for his death and resurrection. He even sent seventy of his followers to heal the sick with the Holy Spirit he gave them.
Jesus and his disciples went to Jerusalem when the time came near for Jesus’ death. They shared one last meal (the Passover Meal). Jesus washed each of the disciples’ feet. Judas left the meal before Jesus and the other disciples did to lead the Pharisees to Jesus.
By noon the next day, Jesus died on the cross. The Jews watched him die – they had picked him over a murderer to be put the death earlier that morning.
Three days later, Jesus’ tomb was empty. The disciples spent forty days with him until he went back to Heaven. He told about the Holy Spirit coming after he left and to stay in Jerusalem to receive it.
Jesus had the power God gave him to heal the sick, remove demons from people, calm the sea, and walk on water. You may wonder why he died if he had that kind of power. The simple answer: to win souls to God who believed that Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose three days later. Jesus is the only way to God for eternal salvation. Those who believe, who repent of their sins, and are baptized in Christ are saved. They will have eternal life with God in Heaven.
Saved, Always Saved
We, Christians, know that we had added our names to the Book of Life when we became Christians. However, the great commission is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. If we Christians aren’t walking the Christian walk, how can you believe that you are still saved? You are not spending time with God in praying, studying God’s word, or fasting. Plus, you live life your way, not God’s way. You lived the same way you did when you gave your life the Christ. This myth: Saved, Always Saved is deceiving to those who don’t know the full truth about how Salvation works. We are to turn away from sin and allow the Holy Spirit to strengthen us to lead holy lives. We are not perfect and God knows our hearts. We can make mistakes but we don’t need to continue to live in that sin. We put our flesh to death daily. Our lives can help people see the error of their ways if we put off our fleshing desires.
In the end, we know that God’s judgment is just because we deserve it. We need to get our lives right with God.
I pray that this post is most helpful. If you like to read about these topics, everything written about in this post is in the Holy Bible.
